The bad consequences of bullying are increasing every year, and to solve this problem, schools may be able to integrate prevention into children's minds to raise awareness.
Children or adolescents live in an age where they seek their personality and discover the world around them, it is to feel integrated that some of them or a group exclude another student. It may therefore be wise to explain the danger of bullying to them, using educational methods such as a debate with teachers, to show them some pictures, to set up a role-play or to explain real situations and all the consequences they can ignore. In addition, prevention could involve a serious explanation or discussion, but with an intervener or expert in these cases. For example, the facilitator can explain the magnitude of the consequences or how to help a classmate in this situation, to help children or adolescents understand the seriousness of this type of situation. If the two previous solutions are not possible, teachers may be trained to identify bullying when possible, and then talk directly to the bully, to make him/her aware of the seriousness of his/her action and to punish him/her. For example, my mother is a teacher in a college, and she is in a project where the goal is to observe who may be a victim and try to talk with her classmates to make sure there is no problem; and if there is a teacher who has to talk to the harasser or group of harassers to do prevention and that they stop.
We had to write a paragraph outlining a problem, then a
comrade suggested a solution, and after some exchanges of copies, we finalized
a second paragraph that talks about a solution.
All students in today's world could be affected by a huge
societal problem that is spreading at school: bullying. This practice is the
usual use of force, coercion or threat to abuse, aggressively dominate or
intimidate someone. First of all, when a student suffers from bullying, it seems
to him that everyone is against him, so he may have bad or dark ideas.
According to one study, 14% of students have thought about suicide and 7% of
them attempt suicide in secondary school.
Then, during a period of bullying, the student gets closer
to himself and becomes less successful at school. UNESCO said that 73% of
harassed students reduce their social relationships and 70% are less
concentrated in class. In addition, the problem today is that the school system is
not adapted to detect bullying and help students, so for the person who is
being bullied, it is as if no one can help you or provide solutions (even your
family). Nowadays, many people insinuate that the system does not act sufficiently
or that teachers close their eyes and do not help young people in distress.
In conclusion, bullying is a danger to all generations of
students, it currently affects student morale, academic performance, family or
social relationships and can have such negative consequences, for all these
reasons it has become urgent to find solutions.
