Throughout
our lives, we have objects or activities that we would like to be offered.
Often we make a small list to our family for Christmas or we expect surprises
for our birthdays. In my case, I received my most beautiful and special gift
for no occasion, neither for Christmas, nor for a birthday, nor for a
celebration. Quite simply, one day my mother gave me a ring that she had
received for these sixteen years old, it moved me a lot that she offered it to
me. This is a beautiful gold ring, with a very beautiful small precious stone
on top. I find it very beautiful, but above all because I know who gave it to
me and what it means.
Since the day it was given to me, I have carried it on my
finger with pride and it is by far the most special gift I have ever received
in my life. Often my friends ask me where this jewellery comes from and I am
happy to explain that it is a gift from my mother. I think even for her it must
be nice to see that I wear it every day since she gave it to me. I plan to keep
it on my finger for a long time to come, and why not give it to my daughter
myself in the future. It would be unbelievable if this ring were to be passed
down through the generations.
I find that this is really the type of gift that
makes people happy and makes a difference for those who offer it, as well as
for those who receive it. Besides, I find it much more interesting to have a
gift with which you have a bond of affection, than just a material gift. A
material gift will please us on the moment and we will keep it for a more or
less long time in our lives, but a present that touches us emotionally and has
real meaning for us will always be better and will remain in our hearts for a
longer time and I think in the end will bring us more joy.
